Winter Clothes

Daily Funny:

We pulled all our winter clothes out from storage, I told the girls to put their clothes away and their coats outside (in the garage on the coat hooks). Paige misunderstood and put all her winter clothes on the back porch thinking they stayed outside because they're winter clothes.

Jog-a-thon

For the past few weeks our girls have been going door to door (along with every other kid in the neighborhood) trying to collect money for their school jog-a-thon. So after Mom and Dad took their 50% cut for letting them live under our roof, they ended up with a decent chunk of change to give to the school for...... well, we're not sure for what. Anyhow the day came and it was fun to watch them run around in circles.

Sorry little buddy..... you aren't old enough!

Carson is amazing when you put a ball in front of him... at 18 months he could dribble a soccer ball across the yard. And fast! Well, this is how he felt when he found out he wouldn't be playing on an organized team this year like his sisters.

Soccer

For the past six weeks our Saturdays have been busy attending 4 different soccer games, and it has been a blast. Kaylei played goalie most of the year for her team and understands that position and plays it very well. Christian coached her team and has found his new calling in life as a coach. Lexi broke out of her shell this year and now has a new alter-ego dubbed the "flyin' lion". We didn't know how fast she was! Paige holds the record in her league for "happiest player". We can't get the smile off her face. Christa played for the first time this year and we weren't sure how she would do. We were pleasantly surprised in the first game when she scored three goals. Child prodigy? To our dismay, that Christa who enjoys running and kicking, disappeared after that first game. Maybe next year. After the dreadful winter passes, they will all have another six games to finish off the year.

Layla Grace

Layla continues to cry and poop and do the things that babies do. She is sleeping through the nights which helps. Carson loves his new baby sister and is always willing to shove her binky into her mouth... or eyes.... or nose.

Cornbelly's

It's that time of year where apparently farmers in our area seem to run out of things to do, and start cutting designs in their corn fields so as to entrap and confuse young and old alike. We found our way to one such place called Cornbellys where they were having "David Archuletta days". Don't know about all that, but the kids had fun going through the maze, going down the slide, and the other various and sundry things one does at a down home harvest celebration. Thanks to the Stott's for the company and comic relief for the adults.

Carsons Hair Gel

Since we've been styling Carson's hair with gel, every time he eats yogurt he thinks it's gel so he rubs it on his head as if he were styling his own hair. Very Cute!

Food storage

Our ward has been sending home paper bracelets with the primary children telling us what we need to get for our food storage that month. On Sunday Christa came home from church and told me that we need to get wheat and marshmallows for our food storage. I asked her if she was sure it was wheat and marshmallows and with that cute grin she said "I think so," then Kaylei said I think she means "wheat and yeast." Christa said "Oh yeah, wheat and yeast."

Baby Layla

Sept. 9, 2008 we added a new addition to our clan, Layla Grace. Christian and I went to the hospital at 7:00 in the morning. At 9:45 a.m. I was given the epidural and the the nurse started the pitosine at the same time. 2 hours later at 11:50 a.m. Layla was born. She weighed 6lbs. 14 oz. and was 18 inches long. It always amazes me what a miracle having a baby is, one minute they are in your stomach and the next your holding this sweet, beautiful baby. It also amazed me how much you can love someone only meeting them a few seconds before.

We brought her home on Sept. 11, and she has been sleeping through the night since. I will put her to bed around 10:00 p.m. and she will sleep until around 7:30 a.m. I cannot explain in words how much I love her.

My Sweet Kaylei

Today I woke up to breakfast in bed. Kaylei knew I was going to the doctor today in hopes of getting labor started. So she woke up at 4:45 a.m. and made me breakfast in bed. She had made a beautiful arrangement of toast and oranges on a plate with a candle in the middle and a goblet of apple juice. It was so sweet. Who could ask for a better daughter!!!

Christa's first week of school

Christa started school this week and LOVES it!! She loves setting her clothes out like her big sisters. She had laid out outfits all across her floor for the first week of school. I told her it might be easier to keep her room clean if she just sets out clothes for the next day. She rode the bus for the first time and had a perma grin the whole time she was getting on. It was nice to have Mikayla Mount, Paige's friend, on the bus with her. Mikayla has taken Christa under her wing and has been very sweet taking care of her. Kaylei, Lexi, and Paige all ride the bus home with her. I was joking with my mom and bet her $5 that Christa had fallen asleep on the bus and Kaylei was trying to carry her off the bus and to the car. When they unloaded the bus sure enough Kaylei was half holding Christa because she had fallen asleep. I love how sweet Kaylei is with her siblings, she truly takes such good care of them.

Soccer

The girls had their first soccer games last Saturday. It was great to see them play. Christian is coaching Kaylei's team, Kaylei is an incredible goalie. Lexi played and did awesome, she has the nickname "Green Machine," she loves being on her friends team. Paige is one of the better players, she is pretty aggressive and had two break away goals. I love watching her play, she is constantly smiling, and of course Paige with her sugar addictions, on the way to the game she always has the same question "I wonder what the treat will be today." We were a little nervous about Christa, with this being her first year, but she did awesome. She wasn't afraid to take the ball from the other team or her own team, she made the first two goals.

First Day of School

Today was the girls first day of school. They have been so excited. Paige is starting 1st grade, she is going to skip kindergarten, she seems to have a great teacher Ms. Lefler. Lexi is starting 3rd grade she has Ms. Easley and Kaylei is starting 5th grade and she has Mr. Millwood. Kaylei was very nervous about what teacher she would get. When she came home from school today she said "I have the best teacher ever." Which makes me laugh because every year she tells me she has the best teacher. Kaylei really has lucked out in getting fabulous teachers. Christa will start preschool next Tuesday, she was a little sad that she did not start today, but excited that it is coming soon.

My parents are the Best!!!

My parents are so great, this last weekend they took all five kids for 4 days. They took Kaylei , Lexi, and Paige fishing, my Dad said the girls were so excited except when it came to touching the fish or the worms, although Kaylei did pick up the worms to put on her hook. They also went swimming and went to a parade on Saturday. They always have such a great time when they are with their grandparents. Christian and I also had a great time, we went out every night, Thursday we saw "The Dark Knight" which I thought was awesome. Friday we ate at the Cheesecake Factory which we have not been to since we left California and Saturday we ate at the Japanese restaurant in American Fork across the street from Home Depot, same side as Costco (which we had not been to before.) If any of you have any favorite restaurants that you like to eat at please let me know. We are constantly debating on where to eat when we go out. Back to how awesome my parents are I have several friends who constantly give me grief because of how often my parent take our kids (all five), I do think my parents have to be a little crazy to take all of them, but ignorance is bliss and I'm not about to question it. I have had several of my friends approach me and ask if they can adopt my parents. My parents truly are the best, as I talk to others I realize how blessed I am for all that they do to help us out and make our lives easier. I hope I am like that when my children are grown. As for now I'm very grateful for my parents. Thanks Mom and Dad for all you do!!!

First Blog

OK, so Kaylei, Lexi and Paige already have a blog, so I am feeling pretty lame that my kids have a blog and I do not. But for the record I did start my blog over a month ago, but I was waiting for something really cool to blog about, but realized that I'm missing the most important things that happen daily with my kids. So after having my user name, new Gmail account and password emailed to me because I have already forgotten them I think I am officially ready to blog. Although when I hear the word blog I always think of "The Office" episode when Ryan sets up a fake blog for Creed. Speaking of "The Office" both Christian and I love "The Office" and want to host a party for the new season, mark it on your calenders all you "Office" fans!!!

I'm just going to give a short recap of whats been happening this summer. . .

We went to Thanksgiving Point Farm when my brother Shawn and his family came to visit. The kids loved the pony ride, they also got to milk a cow and feed a calf.

Every Monday night Thanksgiving Point gardens have a family night activity, Last week they had a jello-fight, my kids loved it until the grass kept sticking to them (break down equation of jello; sugar + water + grass = complaining kids)

We did have a fun 4th of July. We decided to get up early 6:00am and catch the hot air balloon release in Provo. I must admit I was actually excited, we missed it last year because we slept in, but this year I was determined to make it. We loaded up all the kids and got there just in time to see them take off. I had envisioned hundreds of hot air balloons taking off at the same time. So you can imagine the reality check when we got there and there were about 10 balloons taking off. If you do the math the effect is not quite the same, but the kids thought it was really cool and had a good time. That night Traverse Mountain hosted a barbecue and movie "Horton Hears a Who" at our neighborhood park.
